Gilson announced today that MICROMAN E, its new pipette built with positive displacement technology designed for outstanding pipetting precision and accuracy, received the Red Dot Product Design Award 2015 for its unique design language in the life science and medicine category. Evaluation criteria include degree of innovation, ergonomics, functionality, durability, and quality.

Winning products were chosen by a panel of 38 judges composed of renowned specialists: outstanding products designers, respected design professors and specialised journalists, from all over the world whose expertise lends well to a high-quality level of competition, as well as the spirit of the Red Dot label. This year’s Red Dot competition received almost 5,000 entries from 56 countries, across 31 categories.

“We are really honoured to receive this award for such an innovative and ergonomic design,” said Dirk Freystadt, Senior VP Portfolio Management. “Gilson has always played a key role in developing manual liquid handling technology. This award recognises MICROMAN E as a strong innovation in positive displacement pipetting technology.”

The pipette, in conjunction with the proprietary tip, delivers outstanding precision and accuracy to scientists pipetting problem liquids such as viscous, volatile or temperature sensitive samples with an extremely effective barrier against residual sample carryover, aerosol contamination and cross-contamination. MICROMAN® E requires less pipetting techniques and makes the pipetting of all types of liquids easier.

Its small and light ergonomic body is equipped with a button that secures volume changes, a wide finger hook and a large push-button that make pipetting comfortable. The patented QuickSnap feature allows fitting of a proprietary tip on to MICROMAN E as simply as fitting a standard tip to a standard pipette. It makes it the positive displacement pipette as intuitive and simple to use as standard pipettes and tips.
