Empowering growth with precision pipetting solutions

11 Nov, 2024

Integra Biosciences’ pipetting solutions are playing a key role in supporting the growth and diversification of BioApp Solutions, a bioanalytical consultancy based in Leeds, UK. The company is using Integra’s VIAFLO 96 handheld electronic pipette and EVOLVE manual pipettes to semi-automate liquid handling tasks, improving consistency and efficiency in its sample analysis and method development workflows.

Founded in 2015, BioApp Solutions provides bioanalytical training and consultancy services. In 2021, the company expanded its capabilities by opening its own clinical research organisation (CRO) laboratory, allowing it to offer in-house services such as bespoke sample analysis, method development, workflow optimisation, and validation. To streamline its repetitive liquid handling processes, BioApp turned to Integra’s VIAFLO 96 pipette with a 96-channel pipetting head and 300 μl automation GRIPTIPS® pipette tips.

Mohammed Abrar, Director and Co-founder of BioApp, explained the benefits: “The VIAFLO 96 allows us to automate tasks such as sample dilutions, mixing, and sample loading during liquid extraction protocols. We can program these pipetting protocols intuitively, saving time and reducing the risk of human error. This not only enhances our productivity but also reduces strain on our team, helping to safeguard our mental and physical health. The pipette ensures consistent results by eliminating manual errors and inter-analyst variability, making it a perfect fit for our needs.”

In addition to the VIAFLO 96, BioApp also utilises five EVOLVE manual pipettes, available in single and multi-channel formats ranging from 2 μl to 300 μl. These pipettes, paired with ECO rack GRIPTIPS, are ideal for smaller volumes and preliminary sample spiking. The variety of pipettes provides flexibility and reduces cross-contamination risk, allowing for smooth and efficient workflow.

“Integra’s pipettes are extremely reliable and durable,” said Mohammed. “We use them daily without issue, which eliminates unplanned downtime and ensures continued productivity as we expand our in-house capabilities for analytical and method development.”
