Protect Your Precious Samples

Feb 20 2017

When performing PCR or storing samples for future use, it’s important that your plate seal performs well to ensure you get the very best results from your precious samples.

Alpha Laboratories is pleased to introduce eXTReme™ Sealing Films and Foils for PCR and Storage, the newest additions to Excel Scientific’s Adhesive Sealing Films line. Excel Scientific is the world′s leading manufacturer of microplate sealing films and foils for laboratory applications such as cell culture, ELISA, general incubation, fluorescence, high-throughput screening, microbiology, PCR and robotics.

eXTReme films offer high performance under extreme conditions. They feature a specially formulated adhesive that provides an excellent seal for all plate materials and is especially well suited for dual component (polycarbonate/polypropylene) PCR plates. What’s more, eXTReme Sealing films remove cleanly from plate surfaces without adhesive stringing, residue or contamination. Each sealing film offers sufficient sealing area for all plate types (e.g. flat top and raised-rim). The seal will not extend beyond the top edge of the plate and together with the chamfered corners, eXTReme seals are ideal for robotic handling applications.

eXTReme™ Adhesive Seals are available in two formats. The films are composed of 50μm polyester film. They feature two end-tabs with perforations and will not tear on removal. They provide an excellent seal that minimizes sample evaporation and reduces well-to-well cross contamination. With a temperature range of -40ºC to +120ºC, eXTReme™ Sealing Films are ideal for PCR and storage.

FoilSeal™ Sealing Foils feature a single end-tab with a custom perforation that will not tear during removal. The excellent barrier properties minimise sample evaporation during PCR, long-term compound storage, cold storage, light sensitive assays and robotics. The 48μm thick conformable aluminium foil allows visual verification of seal security and minimises shredding during removal. The foils are pierceable with pipette tips and robotic probes for direct sample retrieval and have a temperature range of -80ºC to +120ºC.
