Anton Paar now offers a complete solution for solid and semi-solid material density characterisation, combining the Ultrapyc, Ultratap, and Envelope Density Setup for the MCR rheometer. Covering the full density profile – including true, tapped, and envelope density – this powerful portfolio is designed to meet the needs of industries ranging from pharmaceuticals and additive manufacturing to battery research and construction materials.
The Ultrapyc series, based on gas pycnometry, delivers highly accurate true (skeletal) density results. Featuring precise temperature control, adaptive repeat mode, and rapid analysis times, it’s an ideal solution for characterising solids, powders, and porous materials in both R&D and quality control settings.
The Ultratap ensures reproducible tapped density measurements, which are critical for understanding powder flowability and packing behaviour. Compliant with USP <616>, Ph. Eur. 2.9.34, and ASTM B527 and more, it offers customisable tap settings, dual-cylinder testing, and automatic result calculation – making it an essential tool for pharmaceutical and materials processing labs.
Rounding out the trio, Anton Paar’s Envelope Density Setup for the MCR Rheometer determines envelope density using powder displacement. This non-destructive technique is ideal for irregularly shaped solids or porous materials, where traditional methods fall short.
By combining all three techniques – true, tapped, and envelope density – users can derive total porosity, evaluate packing efficiency, and gain deep understanding of material architecture.
Known for intuitive operation, minimal maintenance, and robust design, Anton Paar’s solid and semi-solid density instruments form a comprehensive, reliable platform for advanced material characterisation in applications such as battery electrode design, powder metallurgy, cement analysis, and polymer development.
