Bionomous has launched Sortivo™ at SLAS Europe 2026,.an automated platform designed to gently screen, sort and plate complex biological entities, supporting the growing adoption of New Approach Methodologies (NAMs).
The Swiss-based company, which develops automation tools for life science research, said Sortivo is built to handle delicate samples such as zebrafish embryos and organoids, reducing reliance on manual pipetting under a stereomicroscope.
The system integrates high-resolution imaging, AI-based classification and gentle handling in a compact benchtop format, enabling more scalable screening workflows for large and sensitive biological models.
By combining image-based picking with large-particle sorting, Sortivo aims to bridge a gap in existing technologies that have traditionally focused on single-cell applications.
“Zebrafish and organoid workflows have outgrown manual sorting,” said CEO and co-founder Frank Bonnet. “Sortivo combines gentle handling with image-based AI and standardised plating, making these workflows practical at scale.”
Co-founder and CMO Ana Hernando Ariza added that the platform was designed through close collaboration with scientists to reflect real laboratory needs and improve everyday usability.
Sortivo is now available for order, with the company offering demos via its website.
