With real-time PCR quickly becoming a commonplace technique in many laboratories, Elkay Laboratory Products Ltd continues its quest to provide high-quality laboratory consumables by introducing two ultra-high optically- clear sealing films to its portfolio.
The films combine an optically transparent polyester film with a strong, non-absorbing, non-fluorescing, medical-grade adhesive for superior performance in real-time PCR applications. In place of the customary paper backing, Elkay optically clear films have a plastic liner which is easily removed before use and contributes smoothness and extreme optical clarity to the adhesive.
The new films are available in 50µm and 125µm thickness (which helps eliminate wrinkling and is ideal for freezing applications), and have an operating temperature range from -40ºC to +120ºC. Both are certified DNase-, RNase- and nucleic-acid free. All of these qualities help ensure scientists the piece of mind that they are running the highest quality RT-PCR reaction possible.
