Gyros AB have announced the introduction of its Gyrolab™ CHO-HCP Kit 1. The new kit detects and quantifies host cell proteins (HCP) from Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells used in bioprocessing of biotherapeutics. HCP are measured throughout the production process, as they may affect the safety and efficacy of the biotherapeutic.

Gyrolab CHO-HCP Kit 1 has been validated for use on Gyrolab xP workstation and the new Gyrolab xPlore™ and is ready to use, eliminating the need for time-consuming assay development. The automation capabilities of Gyrolab systems enable 96 data points to be generated in approximately one hour without manual intervention, saving time, and reducing errors and repeats. The kit broadens the analytical range from typically two orders of magnitude to four, and therefore requires fewer dilutions and fewer reruns than alternative methods.

Gyrolab CHO-HCP Kit 1 contains all the reagents needed to produce 96 data points, including a specific Bioaffy CD that has been optimised for this HCP assay.

“Traditional HCP assays are complex and time-consuming, especially if no platform assay is already in place,” said Maria Hjortsmark, Director Global Marketing, Gyros AB. “This new kit offers a validated, simple, and ready to run solution in a convenient format. Together with our Protein A kit, Gyros has two validated and easy-to-use kits to make bioprocess contaminant monitoring easier and more cost-effective.”

Earlier this year, Gyros launched Gyrolab xPlore, a smaller single-CD version of the widely used five-CD Gyrolab xP workstation. A more compact and cost-effective tool, Gyrolab xPlore makes automated nanolitre-scale immunoassays accessible to laboratories of every size. Using proven microfluidic technology, Gyrolab xPlore optimises immunoassay development, enabling faster assay development, validation and high-throughput analyses in less time than with manual ELISA or semi-automated methods.
