JULABO Unveils the New PRESTO®

Mar 07 2012

Thermodynamic Power

JULABO’s new PRESTO® represents an entirely new generation of highly dynamic temperature control systems. The new PRESTO® systems are designed for precise temperature control as well as rapid temperature changes, making them ideal for reactor vessels, material stress tests, or temperature simulations.

The new PRESTO® from JULABO represents the state-of-the-art for modern laboratories. The first models in this redesigned line of temperature-control instruments are the air-cooled A30 and A40 as well as the water-cooled W40. These instruments cover a working temperature range of -80 to +250 °C with up to 2.7 kW of heating capacity. Maximum heating capacity can also be adapted to fluctuations in the mains power supply. Highly efficient components give these instruments the ability to compensate for exothermic and endothermic reactions with extraordinary speed. The new PRESTO® units are extremely robust and work reliably even if the ambient temperature climbs as high as +40 °C. The integrated cooling machine and an internal, cooled expansion vessel absorb volume changes in the heat exchanger.

Power to the pumps

Magnetically-coupled pumps in the PRESTO® units are powerful and maintenance-free. Lab users benefit from high flow rates, constant pressure, and a controlled build-up of pump pressure. Changes in the temperature-control liquid’s viscosity are balanced dynamically. Permanent internal monitoring and self-lubricating pumps contribute to the new PRESTO®’s long service life. The operator can adjust pump capacity by selecting one of four stages or by entering a specific pressure. Once entered, the pressure value will be maintained throughout the entire process.

The closed pumping loop isolates the heat transfer liquid from ambient air, preventing penetration of moisture and oxidation. At the same time, this design ensures that the new PRESTO® will not emit oil vapor.

Raising the bar on user friendliness

The integrated 5.7-inch industrial color TFT touch screen is one of the identifying characteristics of the new PRESTO®. It gives the user a clear and well-organized view of important information while greatly improving user-friendliness. Fingertip control via the new touchscreen makes it incredibly easy to operate the new PRESTO® units.

International users can choose from eight different languages. Three different views of important information are provided by default and may be adapted by the user at any time.

Password management for one administrator and up to two additional levels of authorization makes it easier to manage laboratory procedures. For example, an administrator can set common parameters in advance and then restrict other employees' access rights so they are only able to retrieve the pre-set parameters.

Useful features and extensive interfaces

Multiple interfaces permit remote control of the PRESTO® across networks and in superordinated control systems. The integrated Ethernet interface provides complete access to all of PRESTO®’s operating functions.

Yet another control option is the USB interface, a first in dynamic temperature control systems. When combined with the proven JULABO WirelessTEMP solution, it permits completely wireless control of the instrument.

highly specific tasks and an extensive selection of accessories.

German quality, local support

JULABO instruments are reliable. They comply with stringent national, European, and international standards as well as specific requirements at the place of operation. JULABO units complete numerous tests during every phase of production. A comprehensive quality management system according to the directives of DIN EN ISO 9001 ensures that all products leave the factory in a technically flawless condition.

JULABO customers can depend on competent pre-sales support and access to additional services that ensure they always receive the most optimal solution to their temperature-control needs. JULABO offers its customers installation and calibration services, documentation for instrument qualification, and user training so users can start using their instruments right away and benefit from years of safe operation.
