A university in London is the lucky recipient of a Karl Fischer Titrator, a prize worth £7,500. The 915 KF Ti Touch, Metrohm’s newest compact, standalone KF for routine analysis, was originally won by Intertek through an online competition.

After searching the UK and Ireland in a quest to find the oldest Metrohm titrator, customers from laboratories all over the country posted images of their archaic instruments on the Metrohm UK & Ireland Facebook page, in a bid to win a brand new Ti Touch titrator.

It was a 536 potentiometric titrator submitted by Intertek, Sunbury-on-Thames, that dates back to 1978 that won. Demonstrating just how robust Metrohm titrators really are.

As a gesture of good will Intertek decided to donate the prize to the Chemistry Department at Kingston University, the local university to which many of its’ employees have gained qualifications, or are currently studying at. Representatives from both Metrohm UK and Intertek presented the prize last month at Kingston University.

Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Analysis Dr. Stephen Barton remarked: “It’s an extremely generous donation. Cutting-edge equipment like this helps to extend the capabilities of our laboratory here at Kingston, and is valuable to both staff and students.”

This is the first time Metrohm have done a competition like this and we are pleased the 915 Karl Fischer Ti Touch was so well received.  You can find out more about the 915 KF Ti Touch and the full range of analytical instruments supplied by Metrohm at www.metrohm.co.uk
