Multimode Detection System for Cell and Biochemical Assays Introduced
Feb 25 2014
Promega Corporation have announced the launch of GloMax® Discover, an integrated multimode detection plate reader system. Together with the company’s extensive cell and biochemical assay portfolio, GloMax Discover offers scientists an integrated system to easily study cell signalling and metabolism, while monitoring cell viability, apoptosis, and cytotoxicity, or to study gene expression with a wide variety of reporter assays.
The system offers a broad dynamic range for both strong and weak bioluminescence experimental samples, superior luminescence sensitivity and low well-to-well cross talk, enabling users to generate more usable data from each experiment. GloMax Discover provides flexible use of filters for fluorescence intensity, BRET, FRET, filtered luminescence and UV-visible absorbance measurements, and seamless integration with industry-leading bioluminescent assays from Promega. The ready-to-use format offers cost and time savings, as less user intervention and reagent are needed for optimisation.
Michael Bjerke, Promega Global Product Manager, Detection, commented: “Scientific discoveries not only require the right type of assay to achieve the necessary sensitivity, dynamic range, and reproducibility, they require the right type of instrument. Instruments with enhanced optical capability, such as our GloMax systems with high quality luminescence, enable superior assay performance and experimental design.”
The GloMax Discover software was developed by Promega with the goal of designing elegant, easy-to-use, and high performance systems in mind. The software provides quick and easy navigation through the control options, preloaded assay protocols, and drag-and-drop protocol customisation. Exporting results is simple, with a variety of options including exporting to a local data network, external flash drive, internet cloud-based server, and Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The GloMax Discover software also provides the technical elements of a 21 CFR Part-11-compliant system, to be used with appropriate laboratory workflows.
