High-performance UV lenses for forensic imaging

22 Jan, 2026

Resolve Optics develops specialised UV lenses that enable forensic teams to capture evidence invisible to standard cameras. Operating in the 320–400 nm range, these lenses are designed for use with Reflected Ultraviolet Imaging Systems (RUVIS), which are widely employed to detect latent fingerprints and bodily fluids such as blood, semen, and saliva that might be missed during initial visual inspections.

The Model 228 is a compact, high-performance UV lens tailored specifically for forensic applications. Its innovative telescopic focusing mount delivers an extended magnification range within a compact form factor, making it adaptable to almost any handheld RUVIS platform.

Optimised for both UV and visible light, the Model 228 allows investigators to focus on a target in visible light and quickly switch to UV imaging without refocusing. Its wide field of view and high-transmission coatings make it significantly more light-efficient than longer focal length alternatives with similar viewing capability.

A case study on adapting the Model 228 for a Chinese RUVIS manufacturer is available here.
