New Refrigerated Circulating Bath Increases Sample Capacity in Compact Footprint

Mar 13 2014

A new refrigerated circulating bath featuring innovative headless technology offers researchers working with temperature-sensitive samples a larger bath area than most competing models. The instrument is designed to allow laboratories to fit more samples in the same footprint, access the instrument more easily, and save valuable space in the laboratory.

The Thermo Scientific VersaCool Refrigerated Circulating Bath is suitable for use as a refrigerated bath or circulator that can control the temperature of external equipment. It can easily be used under the bench, inside the fume hood or in industrial and even mobile installations.

The VersaCool’s control head and heating/cooling coils are mounted internally, and this first-of-its-kind ‘headless’ design frees up valuable space inside the unit, allowing users to fit more samples in the same footprint and also clean the instrument more easily. A variable speed pump and fans contribute to reduced energy consumption when compared to previous models.

The VersaCool’s advanced communications and control features are designed to ensure that samples are being properly maintained. This is achieved by monitoring the temperature of the fluid either in the bath, or circulated by the VersaCool into an application such as a bioreactor in biotech and biopharma labs or a condenser in chemical/petrochemical applications. Users can monitor the instrument and receive notifications through a Bluetooth™-enabled smartphone or tablet, or connect to an existing Thermo Scientific Smart-Vue enabled lab for wireless temperature monitoring and traceability.

The VersaCool's hinged-lid provides an ergonomic feature that allows the user to switch easily between left-hand and right-hand bath access. Additional ergonomic features include the control panel being located on the front of the unit. Users no longer have to reach across the bath working area to access the control system, minimising the risk of bath fumes interfering with the touchscreen. Additional features include: tool-less, drip-less rack and lid; global voltage; intuitive touch-screen interface.
