Automated workflows for NGS library prep

SPT Labtech has launched fully automated workflows for Twist Bioscience’s next-generation sequencing (NGS) library preparation kits on its firefly® liquid handling platform. Accessible via the firefly cloud, the validated workflows support Twist’s FlexPrep™ UHT and Enzymatic Fragmentation Kit 2.0, helping laboratories increase throughput, improve reproducibility, and reduce hands-on time.

The automated FlexPrep™ workflow integrates on-deck fragmentation and ligation with an auto-normalising protocol that condenses indexing and cleanup to just four columns of a 96-well plate. This enables labs without 384-well thermal cyclers to process samples efficiently while maintaining consistent results.

Integration with Twist’s Enzymatic Fragmentation Kit 2.0 further streamlines NGS pipelines, reducing error rates and supporting more accurate sequencing. The firefly platform’s cloud-based access allows laboratories to implement these workflows quickly and scale as needed, offering a practical solution for genomics research facilities seeking standardised, high-throughput NGS solutions.
