Precision mass spectrometry for real-time research

03 Feb, 2026

From trace dissolved gases to rapid, quantitative off-gas monitoring, Hiden Analytical’s quadrupole mass spectrometers help labs capture reliable, real-time data. Explore portable field systems, sensitive benchtop gas analysers, and integrated electrochemistry tools.

Hiden Analytical designs and manufactures high-performance quadrupole mass spectrometers for scientific research and process monitoring. Our instruments support advanced work across electrochemistry, environmental studies, materials science, vacuum science, and process development—where dependable measurement and time-resolved insight matter.

Hiden systems are built for precision, stability and flexibility. Whether you’re tracking a single target gas, profiling complex mixtures, or monitoring rapid reaction pathways, platforms can be configured to match your application. This includes expert application guidance and custom configuration options to help ensure smooth integration into a wide range of laboratory environments and experimental setups.

Gas analysis: QGA 2.0 and HPR-20 R&D

For real-time analysis of gas and vapour mixtures, Hiden’s benchtop gas analysers are designed to deliver high sensitivity and fast response. The QGA 2.0 supports quantitative multi-species monitoring across a broad concentration range, making it well suited to R&D and process-oriented environments where repeatable, stable measurement is essential. Typical use cases include monitoring vacuum processes, fuel cells, fermentation off-gas, thermal analysis, and gas purity/contamination studies.

For evolved gas and vapour studies needing rapid detection and robust performance in research workflows, the HPR-20 R&D series provides a flexible approach to continuous monitoring of dynamic experiments.

Environmental and dissolved species: pQA and HPR-40 DSA

For measuring dissolved gases in water and other liquid media, Hiden offers solutions for both laboratory and field deployment. The pQA portable quadrupole analyser is compact and practical to deploy, supporting applications such as dissolved species analysis, denitrification studies, and environmental monitoring. Its rugged, portable design makes it suitable for work outside the lab as well as benchtop investigations.

For ultra-trace dissolved species measurement in a benchtop format, the HPR-40 DSA provides dissolved species analysis with membrane inlet sampling—supporting sensitive, direct measurement of dissolved gases in liquids for research and monitoring applications.

Electrochemistry: HPR-20 OEMS, HPR-40 DEMS and ECL Series

Hiden’s electrochemistry-focused systems couple electrochemical cells with mass spectrometry to track reaction products and intermediates in real time. The HPR-20 OEMS supports online electrochemical mass spectrometry studies—useful for investigating processes in batteries, fuel cells, corrosion, and catalyst development.

For experiments requiring synchronised electrochemical and mass spectrometric data with dedicated cell options, the HPR-40 DEMS and ECL Series provide tools to explore electrochemical mechanisms and reaction pathways as conditions change.

With UK-based manufacturing, responsive global support, and a commitment to precision, Hiden Analytical delivers mass spectrometry solutions trusted by laboratories worldwide.
