Leco Corporation has opened a 28,000 square-foot technical facility at its corporate headquarters campus in St. Joseph, Michigan—named in honour of the company’s former Executive Vice President and Treasurer Elizabeth S. Warren. The centre, dedicated to the research and development of instrumentations and equipment for Leco’s separation science product line applicable to pharmaceuticals, metabolomics, food, flavor, fragrance, environmental, and petrochemical industries will enhance the company’s competitiveness in this field. Consisting of laboratory spaces, office areas, and an auditorium for presentations and educational opportunities, the new centre houses its own scientists, engineers Technicians and clerical staffs. It also shares several engineering and technical groups with the adjacent Carl E. Schultz Technical Center; this main research unit now has more room to focus on continued development of products for Leco’s inorganic, organic, and metallographic product lines. The added space in both buildings will enable a more efficient engineering process from start to finish, in addition to allowing for proper pre-production testing, said the company.
