The University of Nottingham has once again secured prestigious Green Flag awards for both its Jubilee and University Park campuses, with the University Park campus now celebrating its 15th award in a row. This is the fifth year that the Jubilee campus has also received the accolade, the university being among a record-breaking 1,797 UK parks and green spaces also selected.

The 300 acres of University Park is renowned for its large leafy campus and is one of the biggest draws for prospective students. Highlights include large areas of woodland, contemporary gardens and the tranquil Millennium Garden – a quiet reflective place in which people can escape the hustle and bustle of campus life.

The Jubilee campus was established in 1999 on a former industrial site and has since been transformed into an environmentally-friendly campus. An important feature of the campus is the series of lakes which are not only beautiful to look at, but are also home to a multitude of wildlife.

Andy Sweeney, Director of Estates (Operations) at the University of Nottingham, said: “We are delighted that our University Park and Jubilee campuses continue to be recognised as worthy of a Green Flag award. It’s a testimony to the hard work and dedication of our Grounds team who create and maintain such wonderful spaces that enhance biodiversity and the University’s commitment to a sustainable place to work and study.”

International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme.

“Each flag is a celebration of the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. The success of the scheme, especially in these challenging times, demonstrates just how much parks matter to people.”
