Varian Medical Systems has opened a regional service centre to produce and perform repairs of key imaging components for X-ray equipment in China. Based in the Jiangsu Province, the 3,700-square-meter Wuxi Service Centre will operate two X-ray tube production lines and one repair and service center for flat panel detectors. It has a current estimated capacity of 2,000 tubes and 800 panels a year.
"For our Chinese customers, production and repair needs for most tubes and flat panels will be satisfied locally," said Dr. Zhang Xiao, Vice President and CEO of Varian Medical Systems in Greater China. "With the manufacturing and repair capacities of the Wuxi Center, Varian has the opportunity to help our Chinese clients access opportunities locally for upgrading medical imaging devices and to support local partners by strengthening their competitiveness and helping them become world-class suppliers with systems that are 'powered by Varian.' We expect to help our customers significantly reduce the time and cost of repairs by eliminating the need to ship components in and out of the China."
"Varian is supportive of the 'roots in China, serving China' initiative," said Sunny Sanyal, Senior Vice President and President of Imaging Components for Varian. "By developing the service centre in Wuxi, China, together with our Beijing Centre, Varian will offer professional, convenient, efficient and high-quality local services for our clients in China."
