Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies have opened the doors to its first set-up in East Malaysia, on the back of increasing success with local companies. Within the span of just one year, Veolia has successfully sealed agreements within core industries such as microelectronics and POME (palm oil mill effluent) in the region.

Veolia’s presence in Malaysia was established about 25 years ago, and the company has since expanded to set up 4 offices in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Malacca and Johor Bahru, supported by 300 personnel. In response to growing demand for its water and wastewater treatment solutions in East Malaysia, Veolia is now also present in Kuching.

Alicia Chow, Branch Manager, Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Malaysia, commented: “Our new set up in East Malaysia is a signal of Veolia’s commitment to manufacturers in the region. It allows us to be closer to our customers, and we are now able to provide prompt and timely assistance when necessary.”

Veolia sealed its maiden project in East Malaysia in late 2011 with Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd. As part of this flagship project, Veolia designed, supplied and installed a reverse osmosis/deionisation system for the end-user. This assignment is bundled with a comprehensive service contract, and will also see Veolia supply the integrated engineering solutions company with Hydrex® water pre-treatment additives and anti-scalants. Veolia was able to differentiate itself with an affordable and efficient technological solution, coupled with dedicated service.

The commitment of Veolia’s personnel was evident when Taiyo Yuden also decided to work with Veolia for its East Malaysia factory. The materials and electronics company had previously contracted Veolia to set up a wastewater recycle facility in China. As a result of a positive working relationship, Veolia was contracted to design, supply and install reverse osmosis/continuous electrodeionisation and wastewater treatment systems for Taiyo Yuden’s Kuching site. This second partnership with a materials and electronics manufacturer reinforces the leadership of Veolia in the microelectronics sector, and emphasises the synergy between the company’s branches around the globe.

Laurent Besson, General Manager, Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies Malaysia, said: “Veolia has made significant inroads in East Malaysia within just twelve months. With the newly established set-up, we anticipate to partner even more companies, and better serve our existing customers.”
