Turning up the heat with SF-10+ 

Flow chemistry experts at Vapourtec have introduced the latest version of their SF-10 lab pump, the SF-10+, featuring advanced capabilities that extend its application uses, including the ability to handle hot reagents.

Expanding on the proven success of the original pump, renowned for its versatility and chemical compatibility since 2016, the SF-10+ introduces improved temperature control. Capable of heating between ambient and 80°C, the pump allows both inlet and outlet tubes to reach the same temperature, eliminating cold spots within the components. Temperature adjustments can be easily made through a user-friendly touchscreen interface or serial data commands.

These enhancements open doors to new synthetic routes and novel applications. The SF-10+ excels at pumping reagents before flow crystallisations or handling higher concentrations and viscosities. It accommodates reagents that are solid at room temperature that transition to a liquid state at higher temperatures, facilitating the pumping of products from batch or flow reactors, preventing precipitation upon cooling. 

The SF-10 has already proved itself to be a versatile, self-priming laboratory pump, offering high chemical compatibility with suspensions, light slurries, and gases. Operating at pressures up to 10 bar, it ensures precise measurements and data, while offering compatibility with various electrical interfaces.

Dr Manuel Nuño from Vapourtec explained: "The SF-10+ builds on the benefits of the original pump with the principal advantage of being capable of dealing with hotter reagents, enabling tasks like dosing viscous reagents into a batch vessel or pumping them into a flow reactor."
