Precise back pressure control for challenging gas–liquid systems

17 Sep, 2025

Vapourtec has unveiled the eBPR-GL, a self-contained, electronically adjustable back pressure regulator engineered for gas and gas–liquid applications.

Using advanced composite materials, the eBPR-GL provides precise control over back pressures from 0.1 to 10 bar (gauge) and flow rates from 0.01 to 20 ml/min, handling fluids at temperatures up to 100°C.

Conventional BPRs often struggle with gases: leakage rates are higher than with liquids, causing pressure fluctuations - especially at low flow rates - and significant internal volumes can disrupt gas–liquid partitions. The eBPR-GL overcomes these challenges, offering stable, accurate pressure control even when gas partitioning is critical.

“eBPR-GL is a major step forward for back pressure regulation in gas–liquid systems,” said Duncan Guthrie, Vapourtec Managing Director. “Its wetted flow path features only PTFE and PFA fluoropolymers, with perfluoroelastomer seals, ensuring chemical resistance and reliability.”

The eBPR-GL can be supplied with or without an integrated user interface. Both versions support remote pressure adjustment via RS-232 serial commands.
