Every Memmert CO2 incubator ICOmed is classified as a Class IIa medical device. It is intended for the creation and maintenance of constant environmental conditions for applications in the field of in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) as well as for gene expression and biosynthesis.

The goal ‘safety at all times’ guided the development of the ultra-precise and sensitive Memmert ICOmed. Due to a battery buffer, CO2 supply and control, operating display as well as data logging stay functional in case of a power failure. In case, the individually adjustable ranges for CO2, O2, temperature and humidity are surpassed the ICOmed can send alarm messages to a mobile phone. All parameters are of course logged in accordance with the FDA.

The fine-tuned control guarantees that the set-point temperature is reached without temperature overshoots and the Memmert active humidity control offers the best protection for cell and tissue cultures. It minimises vaporisation in the interior and ensures short recovery times after opening the door. All-round heating of the interior and the heated inner glass door additionally prevent the dangerous formation of condensation. The Memmert ICOmed is equally reliable when it comes to hygiene: rounded corners allow for easy cleaning of the interior, which can also be sterilised together with all installations and sensors within 60 minutes at 180°C
