New centrifuge series combines speed and sustainability

04 Jun, 2026

Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the Thermo Scientific™ M Series Centrifuges, a new compact platform designed to combine high-performance centrifugation with improved energy efficiency and sustainability for clinical, pharmaceutical and academic laboratories.

The M Series integrates Thermo Scientific™ GreenCool™ technology, using a next-generation natural refrigerant (R600a) with a global warming potential of 3, alongside up to 15% lower energy consumption compared with previous models. The instruments are also manufactured in a certified zero-waste facility in Osterode am Harz, Germany.

Designed for flexibility, the centrifuges offer multiple rotor options, including dual-row and micro-volume configurations, enabling a wide range of sample types and volumes to be processed on a single system. Rapid acceleration of up to 21,100 × g in 12 seconds and fast temperature ramping from room temperature to setpoint in 4.5 minutes support more efficient workflows.

Safety and reliability features include ClickSeal™ biocontainment lids for ergonomic, one-handed operation and chemically resistant rotors engineered to reduce corrosion and extend instrument lifetime.

“The M Series combines high performance with more sustainable design,” said Noreen Hong, Vice President and General Manager of Growth, Protection and Separation at Thermo Fisher Scientific. “They reflect our continued commitment to delivering more efficient centrifugation solutions without compromising precision or usability.”
