Mass spectrometry & spectroscopy
Thermo Fisher Scientific has introduced the Orbitrap Tribrid Apex Mass Spectrometer at ASMS, a high-performance platform designed to analyse complex biological samples with greater speed, flexibility and depth of insight.
As the latest and most advanced Orbitrap Tribrid system, the Apex combines multiple analytical capabilities in a single instrument, including three mass analysers, an optional infrared laser for alternative fragmentation pathways, and Direct Mass Technology Mode. Together, these features enable researchers to generate deeper, more confident insights from complex biological systems earlier in the discovery workflow.
The platform is supported by an expanded software ecosystem spanning proteomics, spectral interpretation and protein characterisation. Recent additions, including MSAID and Proteinaceous, bring AI-driven analysis, machine learning tools and advanced bioinformatics capabilities for top-down and native mass spectrometry workflows.
Thermo Scientific Proteoform Studio Software streamlines proteomics from data acquisition through to reporting, incorporating Direct Mass Technology to enhance protein characterisation. Proteome Discoverer 3.4 provides a unified environment for managing complex datasets, improving speed, coverage and analytical flexibility.
By integrating advanced hardware and software capabilities, the Orbitrap Tribrid Apex MS is designed to deliver deeper biological understanding and greater confidence in biopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical research.
