Kits
Bio-Rad Laboratories has received MicroVal certification for its EZ-Check™ Listeria spp. and EZ-Check Listeria monocytogenes kits, providing independent validation of their performance for detecting Listeria contamination in food products and environmental samples.
The certification confirms that the assays perform equivalently to established reference methods under ISO 16140-2 standards, reinforcing their suitability for food safety testing applications.
Listeria remains a significant concern for food manufacturers due to the risk of product recalls, reputational damage and serious illness, particularly among vulnerable populations. Rapid and reliable detection is therefore essential for effective monitoring and contamination control.
Bio-Rad's EZ-Check kits combine multiplex amplification of target pathogens with an internal control to help prevent false-negative results. The assays are designed to deliver fast turnaround times while simplifying result interpretation through a proprietary duplex detection system.
“Listeriosis poses a significant threat to pregnant women, children and immunocompromised individuals,” said Franck Edouard, Senior Marketing Director, Bio-Rad Laboratories. “MicroVal approval, alongside previous AOAC validation, further strengthens confidence in the EZ-Check Listeria kits for food and environmental testing.”
The latest MicroVal approval follows previous AOAC validation of both kits, further supporting their use in routine food and environmental testing workflows.
