Finland and Australia explore quantum technology collaboration

11 May, 2026

A delegation from VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has joined the Quantum Australia Conference in Adelaide to explore potential collaboration with Australia’s national science agency CSIRO as part of VTT’s ‘Quantum Leap’ initiative.

The programme focuses on advancing practical quantum technologies, including quantum computing software, error correction, and the development of more efficient, scalable hardware components.

Both organisations are seeking to accelerate the translation of quantum research into real-world applications, with an emphasis on industrial adoption and cross-sector impact.

VTT is also working with Finnish universities and companies including IQM, SemiQon, Neste, Vexlum and Quanscient to strengthen its quantum ecosystem, while CSIRO brings expertise in quantum sensing, communications and engineering to support technology transfer and commercialisation.

Together, the partners aim to build international research links through exchanges, workshops and joint industry-focused activity, helping to identify new use cases and accelerate deployment of quantum technologies beyond the laboratory.
