Upgraded mobile safety steps meet BS EN 131-7 standard

15 Jan, 2026

Teknomek has launched an upgraded range of mobile safety steps independently tested to BSEN131-7, the recognised European standard for mobile ladders with a platform. The range offers enhanced stability, durability and user protection for hygiene-critical environments, including laboratories, cleanrooms and regulated manufacturing facilities.

Testing was carried out by the BSI on the five-step model, the most demanding configuration within the range. It confirmed a maximum load capacity of 150 kg, alongside structural strength, improved stability from a widened leg design, validated slip resistance using checkerplate steps and platform, and robust guardrail and handrail performance, including a new intermediate safety rail.

Manufactured in the UK from 304L-grade stainless steel, the steps are designed to withstand rigorous cleaning regimes. To support safe positioning, they have two rear fixed castors and a front retractable swivel-castor. Two-, three- and four-step variants share the same safety-critical design features as the tested model and are designed to meet the same performance requirements.
