Absolute Antibody Ltd has announced the availability of the SeqPack™ Hybridoma Preservation Kit, which streamlines the sample submission process for hybridoma sequencing customers worldwide. The kit saves customers both time and money by eliminating the need to ship hybridoma cells on dry ice.

Absolute Antibody offers hybridoma sequencing services to protect valuable antibodies from mutation or loss, and to enable antibody engineering and recombinant expression. The new kit allows customers to submit their hybridoma cells for sequencing without dry ice transport; instead, they can add their cells directly to a provided vial of preservation media, which immediately stabilises the cells’ gene expression profile. The vial can then be shipped at room temperature, leading to reduced shipping costs, simplified packaging logistics, and a decreased environmental footprint.

“The new kit makes hybridoma sequencing as convenient as possible for our customers, streamlining the sample submission process for scientists around the world,” said Ian Wilkinson, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Absolute Antibody. “The Absolute Antibody team is committed to advancing recombinant antibody technology, and our hope is that efforts such as this new kit will enable easier and wider access to recombinant antibody services.”

The SeqPack™ Hybridoma Preservation Kit is particularly useful for sequencing contaminated hybridoma cell lines, as it preserves any intact cells and prevents the infection from spreading. However, traditional dry ice submission is still an option for customers who prefer it.

Absolute Antibody has sequenced more than 1,500 hybridomas over the last two years, for customers worldwide across pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, diagnostics and academia. High-throughput next-generation (NGS) sequencing is used to deliver all variable domains within a hybridoma, a process that works on any species or isotype and can often rescue contaminated or unproductive hybridoma cell lines. In addition to its hybridoma sequencing service, Absolute Antibody offers antibody protein sequencing, antibody engineering, and recombinant expression, as well as a recombinant reagents catalogue.
