BMG LABTECH UK Celebrates 21 Years of Customer Service Excellence

Jul 05 2017

BMG LABTECH’s UK subsidiary established in 1996 is celebrating 21 years during which time it has achieved a reputation of providing excellent service and support for the class leading range of microplate readers produced in Germany. From its modest beginning, the UK office has grown into a large team of dedicated individuals focused on providing comprehensive sales and support to all UK customers to ensure maximum performance from their BMG LABTECH microplate readers.

Over the years BMG LABTECH has earned the reputation of being an innovator in microplate reading technology and has been the ‘first to market’ with many technologies. This includes in 1997 multimode readers the FLUOstar Galaxy and Fluorescence Polarisation readers the POLARstar Galaxy. In 2000 the first microplate based Nephelometer the NEPHELOstar. In 2001 the first dedicated HTRF® microplate reader the RUBYstar. In 2007 the first spectrometer based absorbance readers the FLUOstar OMEGA. In 2009 the first dual gas control system the Atmospheric Control Unit, and in 2013 the introduction of the unique linear variable filter monochromator introduced in the CLARIOstar.

The company’s current instrument range includes systems that suit all budgets and applications in areas of Life Science, Assay Development and High Throughput Screening and features the SPECTROstar Nano, OMEGA, CLARIOstar® and PHERAstar® FSX. The BMG LABTECH range represents readers with the highest sensitivity, flexibility and reliability.

Reliability and a long operating life have been keys in the development of BMG LABTECH’s microplate readers. Jason Heath from the School of Clinical Dentistry, University of Sheffield, U.K. uses a 16 year old POLARstar Galaxy to read a range of assays, such as protein quantification or detection of products labelled with fluorescein isothiocyanate. “We do have a second reader from another manufacturer in the school that was purchased approximately eight years ago. Over the years, this second machine has been out of action several times with various faults and shows none of the longevity of our original BMG LABTECH POLARstar, which has only ever been visited for very occasional routine servicing,” said Heath. BMG LABTECH’s long-lasting products deliver excellent and reproducible results over decades when routinely maintained.

Instrument and application support is also paramount. The University of Leicester, uses a NOVOstar® microplate reader that was installed 13 years ago. “The support that we have received from BMG LABTECH has been first-class. They have always strived to ensure that the machine is performing as it should and as we would like it to. There has always been somebody on the end of a phone ready to talk to me or, alternatively, to come in and help. This support has been extremely helpful over the years, and I really appreciate the fact that it was available even when we were perhaps not well-financed,” said Gary Willars from University of Leicester.

“Today BMG LABTECH is at the forefront of technology due to its continuous development of innovative and unique technologies in microplate reading,” said Robert Mount Managing Director BMG LABTECH Ltd. “We also offer applications support for the lifetime of all our instrumentation, something that we know makes a key difference to our customers.”
