Batch Mill with Single-Use Milling Vessels

Aug 20 2012

The Tube Mill control from IKA® is a unique new product – the world’s first batch mill with single-use milling vessels. For the first time, it enables serial testing to be carried out under reproducible conditions.

The single-use milling vessels save on cleaning, time and energy. They also prevent cross-contamination of the sample material – a major advantage for quality assurance.

The 40ml capacity milling vessels and hood are made from transparent material, allowing the milling process to be observed at any time. The unit is easy to operate thanks to the user-friendly, multilingual OLED display and timer. Importantly too, the IKA® Tube Mill control can be used to process both hard and soft, brittle and dry material.

Particular attention was paid to safety in the development of the mill, which only operates if the hood is closed and the milling vessel is connected to the motor and properly closed. If any of these safety features are absent, an error message is displayed. The milling vessel cannot be opened during milling.

With infinitely adjustable speed from 5,000 to 25,000 l/min. and a combination of an adjustable safety speed and adjustable safety time ensures that samples are not overheated.

A special seal on the motor and milling vessel prevents dust escaping from the milling vessel or getting into the motor.

The IKA®-Tube Mill control for the first time enables serial testing to be carried out under reproducible conditions. Tests can be fully documented via a USB interface.

In developing the IKA®-Tube Mill, the Staufen-based company, founded over 100 years ago, was able to combine many years of experience in laboratory mills with its experience from the UTTD’s single-use disperser system.
