The new Simdos Sensor System by KNF Lab allows automated solvent waste removal for HPLCs. HPLCs regularly evacuate small quantities of solvent waste, a mix of solvents coming from the liquid phase. These solvents are collected in a bottle fitted with a level sensor. Once the bottle is full, the sensor sends a signal that triggers the time programmed laboratory pump (full Teflon version on the picture) which transfers the solvent mix into the waste pipes of the laboratory. A filter mounted on the cap prevents the solvents from evaporating in the air, thus avoiding air contamination. This system replaces the cumbersome and hazardous manual operation and contributes to safety in the laboratory.
