KERN & SOHN GmbH have launched a new networkable stainless steel bench scale: the KERN FKS. The colour LED indicator aids you in classifying weighed items in up to 10 weight classes. Integrated alibi memory documents the weighing results along with the date and time. Wired and wireless interfaces can integrate the scale into digital workflows if need be.
Up to 10 weight classes can be defined for classification, and each class can be assigned to a colour. The LED indicator under the display shows the corresponding weight class for the current weighed item. It also visualises tolerance limits, aiding you in checkweighing and counting tasks.
The alibi memory is used for paperless archiving, saving up to 250,000 records – each containing a weight, date, time and unique alibi ID. The standard real-time clock provides the saved data with precise time information and even continues to display the correct time if the power supply is interrupted.
The KERN FKS can be equipped with up to two interfaces for data exchange. Wired options include RS-232, Ethernet, USB and an analogue module, while WLAN and Bluetooth are the wireless interface options. External control devices or computers can retrieve weighing data and control the scale using the KERN Communication Protocol (KCP). The standardised command set also links the scale to industrial control systems and other digital systems.
The bench scale fulfils the requirements of protection class IP65 in accordance with EN 60529, making it impervious to dust and protected against sprayed water. Its stainless steel platform has no edges or joints, making it easy to clean. This means the KERN FKS is suitable for laboratories, the food and chemicals industry, restaurant kitchens and chemist's shops. Depending on the model, the weighing range spans from 1.5 to 30 kg with a readout range of 0.1 to 2 g. The low installation height of 60 mm makes it easier to use in tight workspaces and with tall weighed items.
