Laboratories performing Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis face increasing demands for higher productivity, greater reliability and consistent analytical performance across a wide range of sample matrices. To address these challenges, Velaris introduces IGNIVIUS, a new combustion-based TOC & TNb analyser developed through the combined expertise of Skalar and TRACE.
Built on decades of experience in combustion TOC analysis, IGNIVIUS has been engineered to provide laboratories with a robust analytical platform that combines advanced hardware with intelligent automation. The result is an analyser designed to maximise reliability, simplify operation and increase laboratory efficiency.
A key differentiator of IGNIVIUS is its robust Direct Injection Technology. While many TOC analysers use a flow-through injection principle, IGNIVIUS employs direct injection to simplify the sample flow path. This improves particle handling, reduces the risk of clogging and carryover, and provides reliable performance for laboratories working with challenging sample matrices.
For laboratories performing Non-Purgeable Organic Carbon (NPOC) analysis, IGNIVIUS features Smart Sparging Technology. Rather than relying on fixed pretreatment settings, the analyser automatically verifies inorganic carbon (IC) removal after NPOC pretreatment and, when necessary, adjusts both acid addition and sparging time. By adapting to changing sample conditions, Smart Sparging helps ensure reliable, reproducible analytical results while reducing operator intervention.
Productivity is further enhanced through parallel NPOC pretreatment and measurement, allowing sample preparation and analysis to occur simultaneously. Combined with integrated inline dilution, laboratories can streamline workflows, reduce manual sample preparation and perform calibrations from a single stock solution.
Designed for high-throughput laboratories, IGNIVIUS offers the highest sample capacity in its class, accommodating up to 170 samples using 8 mL vials for extended unattended operation. A clear LED status indicator provides immediate visual feedback, allowing operators to recognise analyser status instantly from across the laboratory.
IGNIVIUS supports comprehensive carbon analysis including TC, TIC, TOC, NPOC, POC and DOC, with an optional TNb module utilising chemiluminescence detection (CLD). Combining intelligent automation with proven combustion technology, IGNIVIUS helps laboratories improve confidence in their analytical results while maximising operational efficiency.
