Velaris has introduced the IGNIVIUS liquid analyser for total organic carbon and total bound nitrogen, with direct sample injection, parallel NPOC pretreatment, inline dilution and capacity for up to 170 vials
Velaris has introduced IGNIVIUS, a next-generation liquid analyser for total organic carbon and total bound nitrogen, designed for laboratories in the environmental, energy and process sectors.
Developed by Velaris companies Skalar and Trace, IGNIVIUS combines expertise in combustion-based total organic carbon analysis with features intended to improve analytical speed, accuracy and ease of use.
The system can determine total carbon (TC), total inorganic carbon (TIC), total organic carbon (TOC), non-purgeable organic carbon (NPOC), purgeable organic carbon (POC) and dissolved organic carbon (DOC). It can also determine total bound nitrogen (TNb) as an optional measurement.
A direct-injection sample system allows the instrument to analyse samples that contain particles or very small sample volumes, while the design aims to minimise maintenance requirements and sample carryover. Parallel NPOC pretreatment and measurement can increase sample throughput, while the Smart Sparging function is designed to ensure accurate removal of inorganic carbon.
The system also incorporates inline dilution and high-capacity sample racks that can accommodate up to 170 8 ml vials. According to Velaris, these features can reduce sample preparation time, labour requirements and reagent consumption.
“The unique combination of features in the IGNIVIUS makes it truly a TOC/TNb analyzer without any compromise,” the Velaris product manager said.
IGNIVIUS has been developed for laboratories that require accurate, high-throughput carbon and nitrogen analysis, including those that support environmental monitoring, energy applications and industrial process analysis.
