The Power of One BioImaging System for Proteomics and Genomics

May 02 2012

The BioSpectrum® 810 Imaging System configured with the MegaCam 810 scientific grade CCD camera is designed for multiple imaging applications in a wide range of proteomics and genomic imaging research. Capture not only fluorescence gel images; also be assured camera sensitivity captures the most demanding chemiluminescent Western blots. The camera's efficient ultra-cooled technology permits capture of low light blot emissions. The BioSpectrum 810 System features:

• Advanced capture and analysis capabilities for multiple imaging research applications

• MegaCam 810 camera enables enhanced image capture with dynamic 8.1 megapixel resolution and high sensitivity.

• Fully automated and integrated hardware and software simplifies workflow for illumination, preview, capture, analysis and saving of images.

• Automates selection of multiple UV, white and blue light and emission filters as well as control of the motorized platform. Emission filters include EtBr, SYBR Green and SYBR Gold filters as standard and are positioned in a motorized five-position filter tray. A wide range of additional filters are available.

• System expands to multiplexing and bioluminescence imaging by adding a BioLiteTM MultiSpectral Light Source for unlimited excitation wavelengths from visible to NIR.

The BioSpectrum 810 Imaging System supplies researchers with an easy to use system for quickly acquiring "picture perfect" publication-ready images in chemiluminescence, fluorescence and colorimetric gel and blot documentation. For chemiluminescent imaging of protein blots as an example, the BioSpectrum greatly speeds up and simplifies capture and analysis. Once positioned on the imaging platform, the membrane is focused, door closed and the image captured with a one button preset in the software. Multiple captures are easily taken to acquire a full range of exposures using the Sequential Integration function. Chemiluminescent imaging of protein blotting and the sensitivity of this procedure compares to film showing the BioSpectrum with cooled CCD camera to be superior to film in sensitivity, accuracy, dynamic range, speed and simplicity. Due to the high sensitivity and resolution of the BioSpectrum system, the resultant image is both quantitative and publication quality.

"The BioSpectrum darkroom provides a world class combination of functionality, ease of use and durability for precise requirements of complex laboratory studies. The system's automated functions, including camera and lens controls, lighting options and darkroom settings, make both gel and chemiluminescent imaging effortless," according to Mike Capps, UVP's Marketing Product Manager.
