Tri-coded sample tubes deliver secure, traceable storage

09 Oct, 2025

Keeping samples safe, identifiable, and fully traceable is critical in biobanks, compound libraries, and high-density cryogenic storage. The FluidX™ Tri-Coded Sample Tubes from Azenta Life Sciences are engineered to meet these demands, combining robust security with advanced tracking capabilities for modern laboratories.

Unlike internal-thread designs, the externally threaded tubes cannot be overtightened and allow a higher working volume, while ensuring a tight, reliable seal to safeguard sample integrity. Proprietary tri-coding technology provides a permanent link between sample and data: each tube features a laser-etched 2D code on the base, a 1D linear barcode, and a human-readable number on the side. High-contrast codes remain scannable even under frost or condensation, supporting easy identification without removing tubes from racks.

Designed for high-throughput and automated workflows, the tubes are compatible with both semi-automated and fully automated systems, enabling efficient sample tracking, data sharing, and cross-lab collaboration. Manufactured from USP Class VI virgin polypropylene in a Class 8 cleanroom, every batch is rigorously tested to be free from extractables, leachables, endotoxin, DNA/RNA, and heavy metals, protecting your valuable samples from contamination.

Broad compatibility ensures seamless integration with Azenta Life Sciences’ automated capping, code reading, and sample management systems - as well as with industry-standard platforms.
