ATG Scientific has introduced the BioPen™ for use in microscopy and bioimaging which is a unique microfluidic Lab-on-a-Tip tool (developed by Fluicell AB) that provides unparalleled control of the local environment around individual cells, or surface regions, without contaminating any other region within a sample dish. Utilising hydrodynamic control, the BioPen™ can very quickly deliver a tiny volume of chemical or drug solution to a single cell and be rapidly switched without contaminating the sample enabling large numbers of experiments and parameters to be screened on a single sample dish. Automation and screening can be achieved through scripting protocols with both Labview and Matlab libraries now available.

Proven application areas are in single-cell biology, organelle biology, enzymology, pharmacology, tissue physiology and bioprinting.
