Agilent Technologies Opens Technology Cooperation Centre with Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology

Agilent Technologies Inc have announced it will collaborate with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology to further the development of inorganic analytical technology through research, education and knowledge-sharing.

KAIST recently established the new Inorganic Analysis Technology Cooperation Center, which has the latest Agilent mass spectrometry instruments for customers in South Korea’s semiconductor, chemical, energy and material science industries to conduct research or learn about the latest in inorganic analysis technology. The centre will focus on applications in energy, semiconductors, advanced materials and nanotechnology.

“KAIST is one of the best research-oriented science and technology universities in the world, and we are committed to using the industry’s most advanced analytical instruments and new research applications,” said Woo Mi-ja, Director, KAIST Research Analysis Center. “Our partnership with the world’s premier measurement company, Agilent, will help groom the next generation of Korean scientists and technologists.”

  

“Customers who want to work with Agilent and KAIST on new tests and applications will have access to the latest mass spectrometry instruments,” he explained. “At the same time, Agilent will conduct knowledge-sharing activities such as technology seminars with experts on semiconductor, chemical, HPI, photovoltaic, fuel cell, secondary battery, display, clinic and pharma so as to help build a sustainable future in those industries.”

To start the collaboration, Agilent hosted a seminar on the Agilent 7700 ICP-MS and 8800 Triple Quadruple ICP-QQQ Seminar instruments for 70 researchers and scientists from 40 companies invited by Agilent and another 20 attendees invited by KAIST on Oct. 10.

The new centre will be equipped with Agilent ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) and ICP-OES (inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry) instruments. The centre is located in Daejeon at the KAIST Research Analysis Center, convenient for users in the eastern and southern cities of South Korea.
