FEI Munich has announced Benjamin Judkewitz as the 2015 recipient of the German Neuroscience Society “FEI Technology Award.” Professor Judkewitz, of the Bioimaging and Neurophotonics Lab, part of the NeuroCure Cluster of the German Excellence Initiative, located at the University of Berlin, developed along with his team new optical microscopy techniques that overcome optical scattering, enabling imaging and optical stimulation at unprecedented depths in biological tissue.*
He was presented with his award at the recent German Neuroscience Society’s Annual Meeting, held earlier this year.
“FEI Munich, formerly TILL Photonics, has sponsored the Technology Award for more than 10 years now,” states Matthias Langhorst, director product marketing cell/tissue biology, FEI. “The award, which includes a bi-annual financial contribution of 2.500€, is awarded to young scientists for their outstanding results in experimental brain research. FEI is proud to continue sponsoring this award to support the development of new technologies in all fields of neuroscience.”
*Many labs throughout the world now use this method, which has been published in Nature Methods as well as Nature Protocols.
