Making its debut for JEOL, the InfiTOF MS designed for real-time gas analysis, incorporates multi-turn ion optics providing high-resolution mass spectra in a system the size of a PC tower. Featuring a mass resolving power of up to 30,000, it can separate isobaric species such as CO+ and N¬2+ without chromatography. With Ion detection over the mass range from m/z 1 (H+) to m/z 1000, the system is ideal for continuous monitoring of gas streams.

Amongst other new products was the combination electron ionisation/photoionisation (EI/PI) source for JEOL’s fourth-generation AccuTOF-GCX high-resolution time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Photoionisation is a soft ionisation method that provides molecular weight information with minimal fragmentation. It very sensitive for certain environmentally-important compound classes such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
