Laboratory professionals report growing influence on clinical decisions

15 Oct, 2026

A recent pulse survey by InCrowd, a global healthcare insight community, suggests that laboratory professionals see their role in clinical decision-making growing. Conducted in the UK, Canada and France, it offers a rapid, real-world view of how laboratory professionals see their own contribution. The survey found that 55 per cent of laboratory professionals say their influence on clinical decision-making has increased significantly, with a further 30 per cent reporting a moderate increase.

Respondents pointed to several areas where their input now carries weight, including treatment selection in oncology, diagnostic strategy, disease monitoring, and prevention and screening.

The findings reflect a wider shift. As healthcare systems place greater emphasis on personalised, data-driven care, the role of the laboratory is moving from generating results to shaping how those results are interpreted and acted on in clinical practice.

For companies developing laboratory products and technologies, the people who use them every day are increasingly part of the clinical conversation. Their experience is valuable insight, and InCrowd gives them a way to share it.
