BMTA, the British Measurement and Testing Association, is a membership organisation that has built up close working relationships with larger groups including UKAS, EUROLAB and the BSI Group. As such, BMTA is able to advise and guide laboratories and institutions on the latest accreditation and testing standards as well as lobby on their behalf.

Since 1990, the BMTA has provided training to these organisations and individuals through seminars and workshops on the latest and most commented topics in measurement and testing. This year, for the very first time, BMTA will hold an Optical Inspection seminar at mmc2017, the Microscience Microscopy Congress.

hosting this seminar and exhibiting at mmc2017, the BMTA will offer laboratory and test house managers the chance to find out more about optical, microscopic and SEM techniques used in materials inspection. The organisers already have confirmed presentations from BAE Systems on optical inspection of engineering components and from Ayerst Environmental on new industrial applications for SEM. For BMTA members and other delegates, the collaboration means that they can experience all that the mmc2017 exhibition has to offer; from industry-led workshops, over 100 manufacturers and suppliers to introductory talks on microscopy techniques, there will be plenty to see and do during refreshment and lunch breaks.

BMTA and mmc2017 organisers, the Royal Microscopical Society, believe this partnership will offer the best of both worlds to their members and delegates. The BMTA seminar will take place on Thursday 6 July 2017 at Manchester Central. You can register and find more information at www.mmc-series.org.uk/bmta-seminar
