Scientific Organiser: Dr Eudri Venter, Rothamsted Research, June 6-10.

The popular Cryo Electron Microscopy course which will return to Rothamsted for 2022, will include both theoretical and practical aspects of sample preparation and cryo EM techniques, with additional new content not previously included.

Ideal for anyone new to cryo EM, or for those wanting to refresh their skills, this intensive five day residential course will cover a variety of sample preparation techniques (including high pressure freezing, rapid cooling and cryo sectioning), as well as cryo-microscopy operation for both scanning and transmission EMs (including specialist techniques such as freeze fracturing and cryo-STEM tomography).  Each of the topics will include tutorials and demonstrations, although most of the time will go into hands-on practical sessions. Aimed at life sciences, the techniques can be applied to other fields and participants from any area of academia or industry are invited to attend. It is also recommend that participants bring their own samples along, as a large portion of the course is dedicated to giving attendees the opportunity to apply the taught techniques to their research.

Attendees will be required to wear appropriate PPE and provide evidence of negative Covid status before coming on to the Rothamsted Research site (international travellers will be required to adhere to the most recent uk.gov guidelines at the time of travelling).
