A new international conference in Edinburgh on 18–19 May 2026 will focus on protecting brain health before dementia develops, bringing together global experts in neuroscience, clinical research, public health and policy.
Hosted by Scottish Brain Sciences, the inaugural International Brain Health Conference 2026 (IBHC 2026) will examine advances in early detection, biomarkers, personalised medicine and service innovation aimed at delaying or preventing neurodegenerative disease.
“Brain health has moved decisively upstream,” said Craig Ritchie, CEO and Founder of Scottish Brain Sciences and Professor of Brain Health and Neurodegenerative Medicine at the University of St Andrews. “We now have the scientific tools to identify risk and disease processes long before dementia presents clinically. The challenge is integrating this knowledge into services and policy.”
The programme will cover early detection through imaging and fluid biomarkers, women’s brain health, health economics, nutrition and mental health, comorbidities, and population-level prevention strategies. Confirmed speakers include Jeffrey Cummings (University of Nevada), Vanessa Raymont (University of Oxford), Allan Young (Imperial College London) and Francesca Farina (University of Chicago).
The conference takes place at the Sheraton Grand Hotel. Early Bird registration, offering a 50% discount, is available until 31 March 2026.
