Innovative Microfluidics Platform Transforms NGS Sample Prep
Sep 21 2023
Integra Biosciences introduces MIRO CANVAS, a compact digital microfluidics platform designed to fully automate next-generation sequencing (NGS) sample preparation. This ground-breaking system simplifies NGS workflows, saving time and boosting lab productivity, thus expediting genomics research.
While NGS has enabled cost-effective and rapid genome sequencing, the preparation of samples and libraries for NGS workflows has remained a complex, time-consuming, and error-prone task when performed manually.
MIRO CANVAS addresses this challenge by offering fully automated NGS sample preparation with validated protocols for both short- and long-read sequencing applications. This ensures the accuracy, precision, and reliability necessary for high-quality results. The microfluidics system gently handles samples, preserving the integrity of high molecular weight DNA, while minimising reagent usage for long-read sequencing library preparation. MIRO CANVAS also streamlines laborious protocols like exome and hybrid capture procedures, making NGS sample preparation more efficient.
With an intuitive interface, MIRO CANVAS requires only 15 minutes of hands-on time per run, freeing researchers to focus on other critical tasks in the laboratory. It also facilitates rapid, on-demand sample preparation, enabling the immediate processing of clinical specimens upon receipt without the need for batching, thus streamlining genomics workflows.
Urs Hartmann, CEO of Integra Biosciences, remarked: “The addition of the MIRO CANVAS system to our portfolio marks a significant milestone for Integra. This innovative microfluidics platform simplifies NGS workflows and opens up new possibilities for researchers, advancing scientific discoveries in genomics.”
