Eppendorf restructures management board

Oct 27 2023

Eppendorf SE is implementing changes to its Management Board structure, reverting to a single CEO model. In addition, the Management Board will now include a Chief Operating Officer (COO). This decision was communicated by the Eppendorf Group's Supervisory Board.

Eva van Pelt and Dr Peter Fruhstorfer, the former Co-CEOs, have mutually agreed to conclude their collaborative roles with the company. Concurrently, Eppendorf has initiated the search for a new CEO.

During this transitional period, Dr Wilhelm Plüster will serve as the spokesperson for the Management Board. The restructured Management Board will consist of Dr Wilhelm Plüster as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Axel Jaeger as Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the newly established role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

The Eppendorf Supervisory Board is set to appoint Dr Dirk Loebermann as the COO on 15 October 2023. In his new capacity, Dr Loebermann will oversee profitability enhancement initiatives and organisational optimisation.

The Management Board's realignment reflects the economic challenges that Eppendorf, like all life science companies globally, must address. The aim is to reduce complexity, expedite decision-making processes, and facilitate swift implementation.

The Supervisory Board extends its heartfelt gratitude to the former Co-CEOs, Eva van Pelt and Dr Peter Fruhstorfer. Their successful leadership since December 2019 has enabled the Eppendorf Group to expand its growth, even during the pandemic. They have also spearheaded vital projects for Eppendorf's ongoing development, including the acquisition of the Himac centrifuge business from Japanese firm Koki Holdings Co, Ltd, the continuous evolution of the business portfolio and multi-channel sales structure, and the launch of Eppendorf's inaugural sustainability strategy.

The Supervisory Board conveys its appreciation to Eva van Pelt and Dr Peter Fruhstorfer for their dedication and hard work, wishing them every success in their future endeavours, both professionally and personally.
