Lab safety
Esco Lifesciences has expanded its Class II biological safety cabinet portfolio with the Airstream® (E-Series) G4, combining advanced touchscreen con8trol with a strong focus on operator ergonomics and laboratory efficiency. Certified to EN12469, the system is designed to deliver high levels of protection while improving day-to-day usability in modern lab environments.
At the centre of the cabinet is the Centurion touchscreen controller, a key differentiator that brings intuitive, user-focused operation to biosafety workflows. The interface presents real-time safety information and alarms through a clear graphical display, including a 3D cabinet diagram and guided instructions for corrective actions. Positioned centrally and angled towards the operator, the touchscreen is designed for easy reach and visibility, even during extended use. Importantly, it remains fully responsive even when operated with wet or gloved hands, supporting reliable use in demanding laboratory conditions, while quick start functionality enables rapid and consistent operation.
Ergonomics are a core design priority throughout the Airstream G4. The working area incorporates bright, dimmable LED lighting to optimise visibility and reduce eye strain, alongside a full-length stainless steel armrest to support operator comfort during prolonged procedures. A 10° angled, frameless glass sash further enhances posture and accessibility, helping to reduce fatigue and improve workflow efficiency.
Additional design features, including tempered glass side panels for improved visibility and a spacious, autoclavable work tray, contribute to a more open and practical working environment. Combined with energy-efficient operation and advanced filtration delivering ISO Class 3 cleanliness, the cabinet supports both performance and sustainability objectives.
With its combination of intelligent control, user-centric ergonomics and certified safety performance, the Airstream® (E-Series) G4 offers laboratories a practical and forward-thinking solution for contamination control.
