Antistatic Draftshield Provides Unobstructed Access and Visibility 

The Explorer series of analytical and precision balances from Ohaus Corporation features an ingenious draftshield that offers a variety of practical benefits that contribute to an enhanced weighing experience.

The most recent example of Ohaus’ ingeniously practical approach to product development, the Explorer is ideal for laboratory use thanks in part to the draftshield’s combination of features. Made from antistatic coated glass, the draftshield helps block drafts and air currents while also dissipating static charges in the weighing chamber that could adversely affect the weighing results.

The frameless, flip-top design of the draftshield provides unobstructed access to the weighing chamber, allowing for easy placement, adjustment or removal of the sample. The draftshield’s expansive side entry offers 6.3 x 9.4 in (160mm x 240mm), allowing large weigh boats or other large vessels to be freely placed in the weighing chamber.

Unlike a traditional draftshield design, the side doors of the Explorer glide on top-mounted bearings rather than sliding on bottom rails, preventing the build-up of debris on the track and allowing the doors to continually slide open and close easily. This feature can extend the life of the product, while providing additional quality and practicality during daily weighing operations. The draftshield’s removable glass panels, combined with the Explorer’s stainless steel bottom, make cleaning extremely easy.

A draftshield chamber light is also available when the balance is used in low-lighting environments.
