Shimadzu has announced the European launch of the AUTOGRAPH AGS-V Series, a major upgrade to its well-established AGS-X testing platform. Designed to support rigorous quality control across sectors such as automotive, electronics, and materials science, the AGS-V offers a 10 kN load capacity alongside a suite of performance and safety enhancements.
The AGS-V system is built to deliver faster, more reliable testing, thanks to a broad speed range from 0.0005 to 1,500 mm/min and a return speed of 1,650 mm/min. This accelerates throughput without compromising precision. Improved usability features include a responsive colour LCD touchscreen interface and voice-guided support to reduce operational errors, while an automatic jig positioning system helps users set up tests with confidence.
To safeguard users during high-stress testing, the AGS-V incorporates a robust polycarbonate safety shield and an intelligent crosshead design that automatically detects and prevents collisions. These safety functions make the system especially suitable for high-energy materials testing where sample failure could pose a risk.
The AGS-V also brings significant improvements to measurement capability. A wider test force range eliminates the need for frequent load cell changes, enabling seamless testing of various materials with consistent accuracy. With rapid 5 kHz data capture - the fastest in its class - the system ensures high-resolution measurements that are ideal for in-depth materials analysis.
For users managing high volumes of test data, the AGS-V supports direct integration with external databases and offers compatibility with Shimadzu’s TrapeziumX-V software. This combination allows for streamlined workflows, intuitive test control, and advanced analysis - all from a single platform.
Released in June 2025, the AGS-V is well-suited to demanding environments such as aerospace and automotive component testing, electronic devices, and a wide range of polymer and chemical materials. Its performance-driven design reflects Shimadzu’s continued focus on advancing testing technologies that meet the evolving needs of modern industry.
