Velocity 11, a pioneer in automation technology solutions, has announced two new materials sealing films enabling optimised sealing of of PCR and DNA sequencing microplates used in PCR and DNA sequencing applications with its PlateLoc? system.

The PlateLoc is a thermal plate sealer characterised by its speed, small footprint, ease of use, and dependability. Designed to be versatile, the PlateLoc accommodates deep well, assay, PCR, DNA sequencing and compound storage plates. The PlateLoc forms a consistent seal around each individual plate well, creating a seal of very high integrity. The thermal sealing mechanism leaves no waste seal material, saving money and time spent cleaning-up. Stand-alone operators have full control of sealing time and temperature through the PlateLoc's touchscreen, and a choice of plate stage inserts ensures the best possible seal for any microplate. The PlateLoc is also ideal for robotic integration, featuring an extended-travel plate stage, RS-232 serial port, and an ActiveX control.

In order to minimise system downtime spent replenishing consumables, the PlateLoc includes a top-loading seal support and a seal loading card, allowing easy change-out of the seal roll. Three different types of interchangeable sealing material are available from Velocity 11? peelable, pierceable, or clear?for a variety of applications.
