The Emax is an entirely new type of ball mill for grinding ultrafine particles in a very short time without their degeneration. This is due to the extremely high energy input at 2000 rpm and the integrated cooling system which prevents heat build-up. Moreover, the special grinding jar geometry allows for very narrow particle size distributions.
Thanks to the unique liquid cooling system the high energy input is fully available for the grinding process without overheating the sample. Contrary to conventional ball mills the Emax does not require cooling breaks, not even during long grinding processes, which helps to drastically reduce the grinding time.
This is beneficial for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical substances which can be pulverised to particle sizes in the micron and submicron range in a fraction of the time it takes with conventional ball mills. The temperature control mode of the Emax is an important feature which allows definition of a minimum and a maximum temperature for each grinding process. These are controlled automatically so that the maximum temperature is never exceeded.
